La Sorgente Farmhouse
Sandro, born in ’59, has been a sheep farmer since the tender age of 6. He inherited the 74-hectare farm from his father Felice and has always worked on the land raising sheep, pigs, and poultry. In ’88 and ’90, his two daughters, Maddalena and Monia, were born; growing up on the farm, they developed a passion for cooking and agriculture. In 2000, following a serious disease that struck the flock, the family decided to focus on tourism, leading to the idea of an “Agriturismo.” In 2004, the first building and the small dining room were inaugurated. In 2005, Michael—Maddalena’s partner—joined the team, working as a bricklayer in the morning and a waiter in the evening. Over the years, the passion for this business has grown alongside the family: in December 2011, Michael and Maddalena’s first daughter, Emma, was born; in January 2016, their second daughter Sofia arrived; and in January 2018, their third child Matteo was born, who is set to take over the barbecue from his grandfather.
In April 2014, they decided to plant a 2-hectare vineyard.
4,000 Cannonau DOC vines and 4,000 Vermentino di Sardegna DOC vines
The management of the vineyard is entrusted to Michael. The grapes produced are delivered to the Castiadas social winery, which produces excellent wines from them.
In addition to working the vineyards, Michael is also in charge of producing the famous Mirto liqueur, as well as managing check-ins, check-outs, and table service during dinner.
Monia and Maddalena are the queens of the kitchen. Thanks to their passion and the use of high-quality, locally sourced products, they offer guests an explosion of flavors and colors every evening.
